RAMAN TRATSIUK. “Suprematist Wedding”, 06.09 — 23.09

“Suprematist Wedding Project is the result of my studies on phenomenon of utilitarian photography from Internet. In the project I confront the aesthetics of wedding photography with the self-manifesting discourse of Suprematism.

From the point of view of the Suprematist, the phenomena of objective nature as such does not matter; only sense as such is essential, completely independent of the environment in which it was caused.

The so-called “concentration” of sensation in the consciousness means, in essence, the concretization of the reflection of the sensation through the real representation. Such a real representation in the art of Suprematism have no value… And not only in the art of Suprematism, but also in Art in general, for the constant, factual value of the work of Art (to whatever “school” it belongs) is only the expression of sensation.

(Kazimir Malevich.”Collected works in five volumes”, V.2, 1998)

In the photos from online auctions where used wedding dresses are sold I discover abstract compositions that appeared as a result of the blurring of the people’s personality in the pictures.

Simultaneous perception of two opposite layers of reality – abstract and concrete – causes cognitive dissonance, a sense of strangeness and anxiety”.
